Flea Control

Comprehensive Flea Control For Your New Braunfels Home

Fleas are one of those pests that you often don’t immediately realize have gotten into your house. However, once you do discover them, you suddenly start seeing them everywhere. Usually, the first sign of a flea infestation is waking up with your ankles or legs covered in itchy bites. Another sign of a flea infestation is noticing your pets scratching a lot more than normal.

Once you notice these signs, it doesn’t take long to start seeing the fleas themselves. These tiny black pests are quickly noticeable on light-colored sheets, blankets, and clothing. You can often find them in your pet's fur or bedding. Sometimes you’ll even notice them jumping out of your carpet.

Flea infestations are difficult to eliminate. Over-the-counter or do-it-yourself flea treatment methods are rarely effective and sometimes dangerous. To get rid of a flea infestation, you need the help of the professionals at Pinnacle Pest Defense. We offer comprehensive flea control treatments to get to the root of your flea problem and eliminate it in its entirety.

Inspection

When it comes to effective flea control, performing a thorough inspection before treatment is essential. Flea infestations can originate in one of two places, and it’s important to determine where yours began so that we can choose the right treatment method.

Some flea infestations begin in your yard. Fleas infest many types of wildlife. If that wildlife comes onto your property, the fleas may jump off and end up on your lawn. From there, they can either get onto your pets or kids and hitch a ride inside.

Other flea infestations occur when someone enters your house with fleas on their clothing or in an item they carry inside. This can happen if you have visitors who have fleas in their home or if your child gets a flea on them from another child while at school.

During our inspection, we’ll thoroughly inspect the interior and exterior of your home to determine the root cause of your flea infestation. Depending on the findings of our inspection, we’ll develop a treatment plan to eliminate your flea problem completely.

Treatment

Based on our inspection and the treatment plan we develop, we’ll either perform just interior or both interior and exterior treatments.

Interior: If you have hardwood floors, we use a light liquid spray around baseboard areas. For carpets and upholstered furniture, we use a specialized aerosol spray that contains an insect growth inhibitor. This product is safe for children and pets and can be used on all fabrics.

Exterior: If we find fleas outside, we’ll treat your lawn with both granule and spray treatments. We sometimes also find it necessary to treat your crawl space. We do this with dust and aerosol products.

Follow-Up

In order to fully eliminate a flea infestation, multiple treatments are necessary. We will return to your home seven to fourteen days after the initial treatment to perform a follow-up treatment. This treatment breaks up the fleas' egg cycles so that any fleas in the egg stage that we miss during the initial treatment are taken care of and don’t have a chance to reproduce.
